Stavanger Airport, Sola (Norwegian: Stavanger lufthavn, Sola) is located approximately 6.9 miles/11 km southwest of Stavanger, in the municipality of Sola, Norway. The nearest alternative airport is Haugesund Airport, Karmøy located 31.9 miles/51.4 km from Stavanger Airport. The capital city of Norway is Oslo.

It is the third busiest airport in Norway after Oslo (Gardermoen) and Bergen Airport. In 2018, the airport handled 4,250,000 passengers.

Airport Access

Stavanger Airport offers assistance to travelers with disabilities or reduced mobility (PRM). At SVG Airport there will be assigned staff to help provide assistance to passengers with disabilities around the clock, every day of the year. However, all travelers need to book assistance online at the same time as they make the travel arrangements with the airline or travel agency. This should be done at least 48 hours before departure.

Getting to Stavanger Airport is easy by road. Simply follow the signs to Stavanger and follow the E39. Then you can get on the Rv509 highway to the airport and the terminals. Terminal Information

Stavanger Airport operates two runways, which are 18/36 and 11/29. They are 8,386 feet/2,556 meters and 8,035 feet/2,449 meters long respectively. All visitors will find two passenger terminals, one for airplanes and one for helicopters. The one main terminal for airplanes includes both domestic and international operations.

The terminal consists of various levels; One the ground level you will find all departures. There are separate spaces for both international and domestic services. Furthermore, passengers can get access to transportation (bus, taxi, shuttles, and car rentals) at this level. The first level is dedicated to arrivals. Once again, passengers will find separate spaces for both international and domestic services. The second level is where the Sola Conference Center is located.

Car Rentals

Several of the major rental car companies provide car rentals at Stavanger Airport including Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, and SIXT. You will also find the local car hire company Keddy By Europcar at the airport.

It is highly recommended that all visitors make their car hire reservations as soon as possible before arriving at Stavanger Airport. This is due to the fact that there is only a limited number of vehicles available for walk-up consumers.

Ground Transportation

All visitors can enjoy comfortable travel options to and from the airport via buses, taxis as well as car rental.

Passengers can use Flybussen, which operates the route between Stavanger Airport and the city center of Stavanger. The journey takes about 20-30 minutes. Henta Bus Company is the main service operator to Sandnes. Transfer in just 20 minutes to Sandnes from Stavanger Airport. Furthermore, the city bus 42 stops at both Stavanger Airport and Sola.

In addition, taxis are available at the airport during opening hours. Visitors will find the taxi stand between the terminal and the parking garage. A taxi trip from Stavanger Airport to the City Center of Stavanger takes approximately 15-20 minutes.
